The Effects of Invokana®
Invokana® is a type 2 diabetes medication that was developed and released by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, part of the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development organization. The drug also goes by the name "Canagliflozin" and was approved by the FDA in 2013.
Now, in 2015, the FDA has released a warning that SGLT2 inhibitors like Invokana® could cause diabetic ketoacidosis (coma). Other dangerous side effects have also been associated with the drug, as well:
